CONTENEURS CARLEX INC. FINED $2,500 FOR TRANSPORTING WASTE WITHOUT APPROVAL

OTTAWA — On August 13, 2009, Conteneurs Carlex Inc. pleaded guilty to operating and establishing a waste management system without a Certificate of Approval. In July 2007, ministry officials became aware that the company was involved in transporting loads of non-hazardous waste between Ontario and Quebec.  Ministry records confirmed that no Certificate of Approval had been issued.  The company was charged following an investigation by the ministry’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.  The company was fined $2,500 plus a victim fine surcharge, and was given six months to pay.
