BELLEVILLE – On August 18, 2009, Rancor Wood Recycling Inc. was fined $10,000 and Randy Corfield was fined $2,000 totaling $12,000, plus victim fine surcharges, after pleading guilty on June 2, 2009 to one violation each under the Environmental Protection Act. The company and Mr. Corfield pleaded guilty to depositing waste upon land that was not a waste disposal site for which a Certificate of Approval had been issued. Both were given one year to pay their fines. A court order was also issued requiring the waste to be removed at the expense of the defendants by no later than May 31, 2010.
The company operates a waste transfer site located at 197 Putman Industrial Road in the City of Belleville, and Mr. Corfield is the president and director of the corporation.
The company and Mr. Corfield were charged following an investigation by the Ministry of the Environment’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
