HAMILTON — On July 7, 2009, John Lilakos was found guilty of a violation under the Environmental Protection Act for failing to remove waste from a property located at 211 5th Concession Road East in Hamilton. Mr. Lilakos had deposited construction and demolition waste on the property. In November 2007, a Provincial Officer Order was issued to Mr. Lilakos requiring the removal of the waste to an approved waste site. The Order was not complied with. Mr. Lilakos was charged following an investigation by the ministry’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch. Mr. Lilakos was fined $1,500 plus a victim fine surcharge, and was given six months to pay the fine. Ministry staff have since confirmed that the waste has been removed and hauled to a site approved to accept waste.
