ARCHITECTURAL PRECAST SYSTEMS INC. FINED $6,000 FOR FAILING TO COMPLY WITH A PROVINCIAL OFFICER’S ORDER

NEWMARKET — On September 18, 2009, Architectural Precast Systems Inc. pleaded guilty to a violation under the Ontario Water Resources Act for failing to submit a completed application form for a sewage works.  The company was fined $6,000 plus a victim fine surcharge and was given 120 days to pay the fine.

The Court heard that Architectural Precast Systems Inc. operates a concrete forming plant located at 121 Bales Drive, East Gwillimbury in the Region of York. On several occasions, Provincial Officers witnessed beige, cloudy wash water discharging from the company’s site into a roadside ditch.  The company was issued an order which required that it submit a completed application for a Certificate of Approval for a sewage works.  The Provincial Officer’s Order was not complied with.

The company was charged following an investigation by the ministry’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
