Data Downloads are distributed digitally.

  • Shapefile format presentShapefiles (.SHP) can be downloaded to your computer in ESRI shapefile format, which consists of several related files in one zipped document. Shapefile format requires ArcGIS Explorer, ArcMap or other Geographic Information System (GIS) software to view, but is the best choice if you wish to perform geographic analysis.
  • Access© format presentAccess© (.MDB) databases can be opened in Access© if you have MS Office, or any of the ArcGIS suite of products.
  • Excel© format presentExcel© (.XLS) documents can be viewed in Excel© if you have MS Office, Google Documents or OpenOffice.org.
  • KMZ format presentKMZ documents can be downloaded and viewed in Google Earth, to allow visualizing spatial data.
  • CSV format presentCSV documents are comma-delimitted text files and can be imported into many different software packages.
  • Metadata presentMetadata (.XML) documents are published with the data and are descriptions of the datasets. We use ISO 19115 standards.

The data available below for download has been extracted from the MOE GIS portal, an interactive web-based GIS application that will soon be available for the public to explore these data and create maps through a place-based format.

AAQNThe Ambient Air Quality Network provides hourly air pollutant concentrations measured from ambient air monitoring stations located across the province. On the site, hourly pollutant concentrations are available from 2000-2007 for download.

PWQMN PWQMN currently monitors a number of parameters including chloride, nutrients and metals. These data are available in one file or by individual years.

Hazardous WasteThe Hazardous Waste dataset contains information about generators, carriers and receivers of hazardous and liquid industrial waste, the volumes transported as well as classes of the waste as defined by the General Waste Management Regulation 347.
