Formats for Data Products:
Data Products are distributed in digital formats.

  • Shapefile format presentShapefiles (.SHP) can be downloaded to your computer in ESRI Shapefile format, which consists of several related files in one zipped document. Shapefile format requires ArcGIS Explorer, ArcMap or GIS software to view, but is the best choice if you wish to perform geographic analysis. Shapefiles are zipped.
  • Access© format presentAccess© (.MDB) databases can be opened in MS Acess if you have Microsoft Office, or any of the ArcGIS suite of products.
  • Excel© format presentExcel© (.XLS) documents can be viewed in Excel© if you have Microsoft Office, Google Documents or OpenOffice.org.
  • KMZ format presentKMZ documents can be downloaded and viewed in Google Earth, and are an excellent method of visualizing spatial data.
  • CSV format presentCSV documents are comma-delimitted text files and can be imported into many different formats.
  • Metadata presentMetadata (.XML) documents are published with the data and are descriptions of the datasets. We use ISO 19115 standards.
The Drinking Water Surveillance Program provides information relating to drinking water quality and treatment. Data is available by individual years.

MOE GIS portal
Data available here for download has been extracted from the MOE GIS portal, an interactive web-based GIS application that will soon be available for the public to explore these data and create maps through a place-based format.

Additional datasets for direct download will be added as they become available.
