Waste movement data is entered throughout the year based on manifest documents submitted by generators and receivers.
All data originates from generators through on-line data entry or correspondence with HWIN administrative staff. The data may be entered by the generators or HWIN administrative staff, or transferred to HWIN through the HWIN Paper system if applicable. * All generator, carrier and receiver company information was provided by the generator, carrier or receiver
* Certain data (i.e. NAICS codes) is not complete for all companies, be sure to include nulls when creating any queries to retrieve a complete dataset
* Waste codes: generators may have duplicate waste codes for several reasons, including that some may be managed on-site while others may be disposed of off-site, and some may have different physical states;
* Waste physical state: the physical state of each generator waste code was provided by the generator and was not confirmed as being accurate by the Ministry;
* Handling code: handling codes for generator waste codes were not included in this dataset;
* On-site waste management: data on waste managed on-site were not included in this datasetBthis omission represents only a small fraction of the total waste generated.

1. The addresses were scanned for format and those that were not in an address format were rejected.
2. Those that passed the above test were submitted to the LIO geocoder.
3. Those that were not geocoded in step #2 were applied to EMRB geocoding, using DMTI and ORN datasets.
4. Those that were not geocoded in step #3 were applied to a postal code geocode. This was then geocoded to get the (x,y) coordinate. Although many of these have been confirmed, they are only as good as the submissions made.
The accuracy of geographic locations is limited by the accuracy of the site addresses as entered or provided by the generators.Data is compared between Copy 1 and Copy 3 of the manifestsOn-site waste data is not included in the dataset. Only waste shipment data is included
