Protecting Lake of the Woods

Regular font size Large font size Extra large font size Print this page

The Ontario government is working with its many partners and the public to protect and restore water quality in Lake of the Woods.

Water quality, lake trout habitat and the beauty of the lake are all being affected by increasing amounts of blue-green algae or ‘pond scum”.  High phosphorus levels are one of the key ingredients of the algae problem.

We need to do everything we can to decrease the phosphorus entering the Lake of the Woods watershed and its tributaries.
