Cargill is fully committed to learning more, refining its systems and moving closer to the goal of reducing its environmental footprint at all its facilities world-wide. For example, Cargill’s citric acid plant in Brazil implemented the first anaerobic reactor in South America, which makes wastewater pure enough to drink and is a pioneering device accelerating the biodegradation of waste from 100 days to 70 hours. This waste is now used as a fertilizer at orange plantations.
