Valley Park Middle School
Valley Park Middle School launched a “Go Green” project to revitalize their school’s outdoor space and create a publicly accessible civic park, with an innovative spin on rain water reclamation and rain harvesting.
Roof top rainwater was diverted into a bioswale marsh to remove silt and pollution, an underground tank for irrigating sports fields, an urban forest planted by the students, and nearby food gardens.
The school yard is becoming an enriched, diverse outdoor learning environment, and has created positive awareness of the importance of protecting the neighbouring Don Valley Park watershed in Toronto.
