What is the Engineer Internship Program (EIP)?
The program is designed to attract, recruit and retain a diverse pool of future engineers to the MOE. This is a four year program for recent graduates who have obtained a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in chemical, civil, environmental or mechanical engineering disciplines. The program provides non-licensed individuals with the work experience required to obtain their P.Eng license.

Who is eligible?
You are eligible to apply for the Engineer Internship Program (EIP) if you:
- Have graduated from a four-year Bachelor’s degree in one of the following engineering disciplines: civil, chemical, environmental or mechanical.
- Graduated within the last two years from your Bachelor’s degree.
- Do not already possess your P. Eng. licence.
- Are eligible to work in Ontario. Ontario public servants are a diverse group from many cultural, educational and professional backgrounds. To comply with our province’s employment laws, and similar requirements of the federal government, all applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada, or authorized in writing to work in Canada under the Federal Immigration Act. Where will EIP positions located?
The majority of placements are expected to be in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA); however opportunities may also be available in regions outside of the GTA

Objectives of the Engineer Internship Program (EIP)
- To help develop a pool of engineering talent at MOE and ensure a group of highly trained, self-motivated individuals to fill a wide range of engineering and management positions within the Ministry.
- To provide a strategic approach to the management and recruitment of engineers in the Ministry, ensuring the bench-strength needed to meet new and changing business requirements.
- To ensure a continued and diverse internal pool of engineers to draw on for succession planning.
- To enable the participants to become PEO licensed at the end of the program and be able to compete for working level engineering positions within the Ministry.

Q1. Is there an age limit?
A1. There is no age limit to apply to the Engineer Internship Program. You are eligible to apply as long as you graduated (within the last two years) from a four-year degree in civil, chemical, environmental or mechanical engineering with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
Q2. When do you begin accepting applications?
A2. Typically the EIP competition opens in the spring.
Q3. What is the application deadline?
A3. The application date varies depending on when the job ad is posted. The 2012 recruitment closed on Friday, July 27, 2012.
Q4. Where will EIP positions be located?
A4. The majority of placements are expected to be in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA); however opportunities may also be available in regions outside of the GTA.
Q5. Do I have to be a Canadian citizen to apply?

Q6. Can I apply if I already have my P. Eng. licence?
A6. The EIP is designed to provide recent graduates with work experience required to help them obtain their P. Eng. licence. Therefore, applicants who already possess their P. Eng. licence are not eligible.
Q7. Where are the assignments located within the Ministry?
A7. Interns are placed in job assignments to ensure exposure to a variety of MOE functions and priorities.
