Open for Business, led by the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade (MEDT), is the Ontario Government’s initiative to create faster, smarter, and more streamlined government-to-business services and regulations with the aim of making Ontario more attractive for business development, while protecting the public interest. An important component of this initiative is to develop service standards that support business needs and promote predictability and transparency throughout the service delivery process.
As part of the Open for Business Service Standards Initiative and the OPS Service Excellence Initiative, the Ministry of the Environment has identified and developed service standards for several program areas across the ministry.
With input and feedback from business, the Service Standards Initiative has improved the consistency, quality and accessibility of over 500 business service standards across 17 ministries, and efforts are in place to keep working to make ministry services faster, smarter and easier.
