Program or Service Description:
The transit project assessment process applies to selected transit projects as identified in Ontario Regulation 231/08 under the Environmental Assessment Act. The process under the regulation requires public sector proponents to assess negative impacts of their chosen transit project, identify appropriate mitigation measures and to undertake consultation. Proponents must also make available any information or documentation done for any pre-planning work undertaken which led them to select the transit project.
The ministry has developed a regulated six month assessment process for transit projects. In order to meet this timeframe, the ministry has committed to service delivery standards to allow proponents to meet this timeframe.

We are committed to the OPS service principles (i.e., accessible, responsive, reliable, caring, accountable; consistent, predictable, transparent, continuous improvement) and OPS common service standards (i.e., response times to general phone calls, mail, email, fax) as outlined in the ministry's service charter.
Program or Service-specific Standards:
- The ministry will review assessment documents within the 30 calendar day comment period after issuance of a Notice of Completion of Environmental Project Report
- The ministry will then review transit project objections raised by third parties within an additional 35 days
- Upon the ministry issuing a notice, proponents/third party objectors will be informed through correspondence within 15 business days
- Feedback on the process, or any other inquiries, can be directed to the ministry's Public Information Centre and a response will be provided within 15 business days
