Municipal Drinking Water Licensing Program

Program or Service Description:

These two key Ministry programs ensure the protection and safety of drinking water in Ontario through the inspection, compliance monitoring and licensure of municipal residential drinking water systems.

These drinking water systems must be licensed by the Ministry of the Environment. Drinking Water Inspectors conduct inspections of these systems and promote compliance with Ontario legislation. They also respond to incidents of non-compliance and Adverse Water Quality Incidents (AWQIs).
