If you are interested in a career where you can do your part to protect the environment, you are in luck: the environmental sector is a growing field.
As concern for the environment has grown, so too have opportunities in the environmental job market. According to ECO Canada the environment industry in Canada employs more than 682,000 people. Nearly 40 per cent of those jobs are right here in Ontario.
More than 318,000 organizations in Canada employ at least one environmental employee. The environmental sector is a good place for youth to look for jobs. Approximately 24 per cent of all Canadian environmental employees are younger than 30.
Jobs in the environment field can include conservationist, environmental engineer, waste management professional, parks manager or working with an non-governmental environmental organization. Many companies are also looking for people to help make their businesses remain in compliance with environmental laws, be more sustainable or reduce their environmental footprint.
