Generally, you can use a Drive Clean "pass" to either renew a vehicle’s license or transfer its ownership for one year from the date it’s issued. Now, most "passes" can be used to renew its license at any point in the next calendar year.
You can use a "conditional pass" for one year only and only to renew your vehicle’s registration. A conditional pass cannot be used to transfer a vehicle’s ownership.
The pass or conditional pass certificate must be valid on the day your registration expires or, for late renewals or vehicle transfers, it must be valid on the date of the transaction.
Find your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) in any of these places:
- on the "statement of compliance" label in the driver's door opening – if it’s the original door
- on the vehicle's dashboard
- on the vehicle ownership certificate issued by the Ministry of Transportation
- on the vehicle insurance certificate (pink form) issued by your insurance company
