Maya takes her lunch to school in re-usable glass containers. This reduces waste because she has no packages to throw away. The glass in Maya's containers will never wear out. Glass can be recycled many times. It lasts pretty much forever. That's a long time! |
Jay rides his bike to school even though his mom could drive him. Jay knows his bike is better for his body and for the planet. Jay keeps kilograms of pollution out of the air by biking instead of getting a drive. A kilogram is about as heavy as a big book. That's a lot of pollution! |
Katie always writes on both sides of her paper to reduce how much she needs. Katie can save an entire pine tree by reducing how much paper she uses in a year. Trees are pretty big! |
Eric asks his dad to use compost in his yard instead of fertilizer. Compost turns food waste into plant food and does not have chemicals in it. The compost in Eric's yard helps his dad's vegetable plants grow huge. It also saves creatures like butterflies, mice, worms and frogs from getting hurt by chemicals. That's a lot of creatures! |
