Council of the Federation (COF) Excellence in Water Stewardship Award
The COF Excellence in Water Stewardship Award recognizes outstanding achievement, innovative practise and excellence in water stewardship provincially and territorially. The award will be given to organizations, partnerships, business, institutions, or community groups to recognize their contribution to these Canada wide goals.
There will be one recipient in each province and territory. Award recipients will be announced on March 22, 2013, which is World Water Day and also falls within Canada Water Week.
Who Can Be Nominated?
- You can nominate your community, business, group or organization
- Nominee must operate or have an existing project within Ontario
- Nominee must have obtained required licenses, permits and approvals
- Nominee/project/activity must not be required by existing legislation, permits, approvals or policies
- Nominee/project/activity must not be directly linked to the delivery of a regulated program of government
Judging
- A selection committee in each province and territory reviews the nominations and selects the award recipient for that province or territory.
The Award Presentation:
- The award consists of a glass trophy, a certificate and an honorarium.
- The award will be awarded to the provincial/territorial COF Excellence in Water Stewardship Award recipient on World Water Day, March 22, 2013.
Nomination Package in Ontario
The nomination package must include:
- A completed nomination form:
Please type or print clearly. Ensure that the organization name is correctly spelled as it will be used on official materials.
- A description of how the project or activity promotes the initiatives of the Water Charter:
- How does the project or activity demonstrate leadership or innovation in water stewardship?
- How does the project or activity promote collaboration?
- How has the project or activity demonstrated/encouraged water conservation?
- How has the project or activity improved people’s approach to water stewardship?
The nomination package may include:
- Optional Supporting Documentation:
Include printed material such as letters, news clippings, pamphlets, and testimonials, examples of materials developed by the nominee, if directly related.
- Optional Letters of Support:
A letter from either someone involved with assisting the nominee or from someone the nominee has aided or inspired.
