Airborne Contaminant Discharge Monitoring and Reporting

Informing the public

Ontario Regulation 127/01 (made under the Environmental Protection Act) requires Ontario-based facilities that emit certain quantities of specific substances to report their emissions to the government. These emissions reports must also be made available to the public.

Public reporting is a key component of this regulation; it ensures that Ontario's residents have access to information on air pollutants being released in their communities.

The reporting requirements for Regulation 127/01 have been harmonized with Environment Canada's federal air emissions reporting requirements. All reports (from 2005 onward) are available to the public through the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) website.
