The first biennial Lake Simcoe Protection Plan Science Forum was held in Barrie from May 26-27, 2011. The forum focussed on scientific monitoring and research related to protecting the ecological health of Lake Simcoe and its watershed.

The Lake Simcoe Science Forum was run as a combination of joint and concurrent sessions on topics including water quality, stewardship, aquatic life, shoreline and natural heritage, invasive species and climate change.
