Airshed: a geographical region covered by a volume of air that has similar characteristics.
Ambient air: outdoor or open air.
Clarkson Airshed Study Area: The area of approximately 20 km x 20 km on which both Parts II and III of the Clarkson Airshed Study were focussed. It is located on the north shore of Lake Ontario surrounding the Clarkson area.
Modelling (air dispersion modelling): a mathematical simulation of how air pollutants disperse in the atmosphere.
Nitrogen Oxide: a common air pollutant that contributes to smog, which impacts human health and the environment.
Particulate matter: the general term used for a mixture of solid particles and liquid droplets (aerosols) in the air.
