ST. THOMAS – On December 17, 2010, Parkbridge Lifestyle Communities Inc. pleaded guilty to failing to have a qualified person operate a drinking water system, failing to ensure that all employed operators of the well supply subsystem held a certificate for the subsystem and failing to keep appropriate records.
The Court heard that the company owns various residential sites, such as mobile home parks across Ontario and Canada. Parkbridge also owns and operates the drinking water treatment and distribution system for the Red Oak Mobile Home Park located in the Municipality of Bayham. In the summer of 2009, a Provincial Officer with the ministry conducted an inspection at the Red Oak Mobile Home Park drinking water system. During the inspection process the officer noted several violations under the Safe Drinking Water Act.
The company was charged following an investigation by the ministry’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch.
The company was and fined a total of $60,000 plus victim fine surcharges. The company was given one year to pay the fine.
