Jenny Auto Sales Inc. Fined $30,000 For Drive Clean Violations
TORONTO — On January 20, 2011, Jenny Auto Sales Inc. pleaded guilty at a new trial to two violations under the Environmental Protection Act. The new trial was ordered after the court granted an appeal on September 8, 2010.
The Court heard that the company is a used car dealership located in Markham. The company facilitated changes in the registration of used vehicles by distributing a false Drive Clean vehicle emissions inspection report to a client and by providing a false Drive Clean vehicle emissions inspection report to the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), an agent of the ministry.
The company was charged on January 7, 2008 by the ministry’s Investigations and Enforcement Branch. The company was fined a total of $30,000 plus victim fine surcharges and was given one year to pay the fine.
