Oakrun Farm Bakery Ltd. Fined $50,000 For A Sewage Works Violation

HAMILTON - On May 1, 2012, Oakrun Farm Bakery Ltd. pleaded guilty to one violation under the Ontario Water Resources Act for failing to comply with a Certificate of Approval for a sewage works.

The Court heard that the company is located in Hamilton. As part of its operation, the company has an industrial sewage works that it operates pursuant to a Certificate of Approval issued by the ministry that sets out limits on effluent discharge. During the month of December 2010, the effluent concentration discharged was greater than the allowed amount.

The company was charged following an investigation by the ministry's Investigations and Enforcement Branch.

The company was fined $50,000 plus a victim fine surcharge and was given 90 days to pay the fine.
