Event date: July 30, 2012
Location: Keswick Water Pollution Control Plant, Keswick
Environment Minister Jim Bradley toured the Keswick Water Pollution Control Plant to see the new technology being installed to protect water quality.
The plant is testing an advanced oxidation process to reduce the amount of phosphorus and micropollutants such as pharmaceuticals and personal-care products entering Lake Simcoe. Phosphorus is the key pollutant threatening the environmental health of Lake Simcoe.
The Keswick project is part of Showcasing Water Innovation, a program that supports projects that demonstrate innovative and cost-effective approaches to improve drinking water, wastewater treatment and stormwater systems that can be used by communities across the province.
