Hamilton Resident Fined $8,000 For Failing To Comply With Ministry Order

Hamilton - A Hamilton resident was fined $8,000 for failing to comply with a ministry order in relation to the Drive Clean Program.

"Environmental protection legislation protects communities and the environment. Breaking these rules can result in serious penalties and is an offence the ministry takes very seriously", Environment Minister Jim Bradley.

A Drive Clean investigation revealed Robert A. Blake submitted false information to an agent of the ministry to allow persons to avoid meeting requirements of the Ontario Drive Clean Program. As a result, a ministry order was issued requiring Mr. Blake to provide proof of compliance with the Drive Clean Program for all vehicles he registered or renewed with the agency. Mr. Blake failed to comply with the order.

Mr. Blake was fined a total $8,000 plus victim fine surcharges of $2,000 and was given one year to pay the fine.
