Company Fined $2,000 For Failing to Comply With Ministry Order

Thunder Bay – A company was fined $2,000 for failing to comply with a ministry order to submit a notice of completion of a report and failing to identify a certified operator for their drinking water system.

“The Province will prosecute those whose actions contravene Ontario’s environmental laws and damage our shared resources,” Environment Minister Jim Bradley.

Duke’s Trailer Court Limited operates a mobile home park in the Township of Shuniah. The mobile home park and the owner's residence are serviced by a non-municipal year-round residential drinking-water system which is operated by the owners of the mobile home park. Ministry staff conducted an inspection of the drinking-water system and observed non-compliance issues with the regulatory requirements dealing with the engineering assessment and operator certification.  A ministry order was issued to the company in order to address the deficiencies.  A follow up inspection determined that no items of the order had been complied with.

The company was fined a total of $2,000 plus victim fine surcharges of $500 and was given six months to pay the fine.
