Resident Fined $1,000 for Drive Clean Violation

Hamilton – A resident was fined $1,000 for failing to comply with a written notice in relation to the Drive Clean Program.

“The Province will prosecute those whose actions contravene Ontario’s environmental laws and damage our shared resources,” Environment Minister Jim Bradley.

Matthew Arruda lives in Mount Hope and is the owner of a 1998 Ford Mustang.  The ministry became aware that the vehicle had not been emissions tested in over three years and that a change of address had occurred and a license plate sticker was issued to the owner.  The address was again changed following the issuance of the sticker.  As a result, a written notice was issued requiring Mr. Arruda to submit the vehicle for testing, which he failed to do.

Mr. Arruda was fined $1,000 plus a victim fine surcharge of $125 and was given 180 days to pay the fine.
