Company Fined $1,000 For Well Violation

Thunder BayA company was fined $1,000 for constructing a well without having a well contractor license.

“The Province is always prepared to go to court to defend the natural environment from those who would treat it irresponsibly and cause harm,” Environment Minister Jim Bradley.

Tycon Construction Inc. is located in the Municipality of Neebing.  The company was contracted by a neighbour to work on a well.  The company removed the existing corrugated culvert casing of the well, and replaced it with concrete well tiles.  The neighbour then submitted a sample of the well water to a public health laboratory and the analysis revealed that the water was unsafe to drink, due to excessive contamination.

The company was fined a total of $1,000 plus victim fine surcharges of $125 and was given three months to pay the fine.
