Smog Alerts

By subscribing to the service, there are three kinds of smog notifications that you can expect to receive by email:

  • A Smog Watch is issued when there is a 50 per cent chance that elevated smog levels will occur within the next three days.
  • A Smog Advisory is issued when there is a strong likelihood that elevated smog levels will occur within the next 24 hours. It’s sometimes issued immediately if widespread, poor air quality readings occur, and poor air quality is expected to continue for several hours.
  • A termination notice is issued once a smog advisory is over.

Smog alert notification is provided all year round with the majority of alerts being issued during the May to September period depending on the weather conditions.
