Timmins Air Quality Study 2003

Description: From July 9 to August 18, 2003, the Ministry of the Environment measured hourly pollutant concentrations in Timmins using their state-of-the-art Mobile Air Quality Index (AQI) Unit. Concentrations of pollutants measured by the Mobile AQI Unit were compared with those measured at fixed monitoring sites located in North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie and Sudbury. The pollutants measured in this study were: ozone (O3), fine particulate matter (PM2.5), sulphur dioxide (SO2) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). The purpose of the study was to assess the potential impact of smog produced in Ontario and the United States on the Timmins area.
