Description:
The MOE's emergency response plan fulfills the requirements of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act, Ontario Regulation 380/04, and related Order in Council for the Minister of the Environment to develop an emergency response plan for specific types of emergencies as assigned by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.
The primary purpose of this plan is to establish a framework for a systematic and effective response to spill and drinking water emergencies that escalate to the level where the MOE is asked or is required to respond.
MOE’s primary role in response to spill and drinking water emergencies is to ensure regulatory oversight of the duties and responsibilities of those regulated parties and to support response activities in conjunction with other authorities.
This plan also establishes the framework for a response to other types of emergencies where MOE’s support may be required.
