Lakewide Management Plans (LaMPs)
Ontario works with Canada and the United States and state governments to maintain, restore and enhance the Great Lakes ecosystems. The governments collaborate through the Lakewide Management Plan (LaMP), which is a framework for Great Lakes protection.
LaMPs are used to:
- identify lakewide environmental issues
- define ecosystem goals and objectives
- coordinate environmental efforts with government agencies and the broader Great Lakes community
- encourage stewardship
- monitor progress
The LaMPs are implemented by federal, provincial and state agencies – all part of a commitment to protect Great Lakes health under the Canada-United States Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA).
Lake Huron Binational partnership
The Lake Huron Binational partnership is the framework used by federal, state and provincial agencies to set priorities and coordinate environmental activities in the Lake Huron basin. It also helps develop partnerships on projects that cannot be accomplished by individual agencies alone.
