Regulated Facilities

Home > Subject Matter > Reducing Toxics

These are the types of facilities that are regulated under the Toxics Reduction Regulation.

The Toxics Reduction Act, 2009 and the toxics reduction regulation apply to Ontario facilities where manufacturing activities or mineral processing activities take place and the facility is required to provide information under the National Pollutant Release Inventory (NPRI) or Ontario Regulation 127/01, Airborne Contaminant Discharge Monitoring and Reporting, made under the Environmental Protection Act for acetone.

For facilities that engage in mineral processing activities, they are only subject to the Act and regulation if the mineral processing at the facility involves the use of chemicals to separate, refine, smelt or concentrate metallic or non-metallic minerals from an ore.
