When you hear the term "hot rod", you might think of a souped-up cherry-red convertible. The term was first used in the 1930s when people raced modified cars across the California desert.
If you think you have a hot rod, or any car with a modified motor, there are emissions requirements that you need to know about.
Emissions requirements were introduced in 1998 through the Province's Drive Clean program, because motor vehicles are a major source of smog and other air pollution.
To find out about the emissions requirements for your hot rod, you'll need to know your original car model year and when the engine was replaced.
