Ontario Regulation 194/05 - Industry Emissions

Ontario Regulation 194/05, Industry Emissions - Nitrogen Oxides and Sulphur Dioxide, sets tough limits on emissions of two key smog-causing pollutants – nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulphur dioxide (SO2). Regulation 194/05 is a key component of the Government’s Five-Point Plan for Clean Air to reduce industrial emissions and an important step in improving air quality in the province. For the seven capped industries, Regulation 194/05 will cut emissions of NOx by 21 per cent and SO2 by 46 per cent the year 2015 – which directly translates into cleaner, safer air for all Ontarians. Guidance documents have been developed to support the regulation.

Minor amendments to O. Reg. 397/01 and O. Reg. 153/99 will ensure the way the province measures and reports levels of NOx is consistent with other jurisdictions.
