Health and Science Panel
Recent studies indicate that air pollution is the cause of 5,800
premature deaths in Ontario every year and causes close to $10 billion
in damages, including over $6 billion in health care costs. With
this panel, the audience will hear more indepth analysis of the
science behind air pollution and its impacts on the health care
system. Participants will also hear a testimonial to clean air from
one of
Canada’s premier athletes and Olympic medal winner.

concerted efforts between Governments, the private sector and others.
The private sector can provide leadership, new technologies and
innovative solutions to the problems of air pollution. This panel
will discuss potential innovations in technology and corporate leadership
in air quality management as well as the relationship between air
quality and competitiveness.

adopted in the U.S. in dealing with the challenges of air pollution.
