Ontario's Anti-Smog Action Plan (ASAP)

Ontario's Anti-Smog Action Plan (ASAP) is a broad-based forum led by MOE, with representatives from business, industry, academia, environmental and community representatives. The aim of ASAP is to reduce air pollutants that contribute to smog.

ASAP's second report, released in December 2002, states that good progress has been made since 1990 in reducing absolute emissions that contribute to smog and acid rain. Between 1990 and 1999, provincial emissions of nitrogen oxides, volatile organic compounds and sulphur dioxide were reduced by 16 per cent, 20 per cent and 50 per cent, respectively.
