Environmental Assessment
The Town of Cochrane submitted an environmental assessment in January, 1997, seeking to establish a new landfill site to service the Town of Cochrane and the Townships of Glackmeyer, Hanna, Fournier and Lamarche over a 20 year period. The preferred site is located on Lots 8 and 9, Concession 3, Fournier Township, District of Cochrane. The site area is 18 hectares in size with a proposed 5 hectare fill area. The landfill will accept approximately 374,000 tonnes of non-hazardous solid waste over the life of the site. The Notice of Completion of Review was issued on October 4, 1997 with the public comment period ending on November 7, 1997. The undertaking was approved with conditions on June 24, 1998.
