GUELPH - Better Beef Limited has been charged with a spill of diesel fuel and hydraulic oil from a fueling station at its beef slaughter plant in Guelph.
The alleged spill occurred at the Better Beef plant on December 17, 2001. It is alleged that fuel entered the Eramosa River via storm sewers.
The company faces one charge under section 30(1) of the Ontario Water Resources Act, involving the discharge of contaminants that may impair water quality.
The company will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on April 9, 2003.
