BARRIE – The company that operates the Caitlyn Golf Course has been charged with two counts under the Ontario Water Resources Act for failing to comply with the conditions of its permit to take water.
The company - 1131121 Ontario Limited - has a permit to take water from Innisfil Creek to irrigate turf on the Caitlyn Golf Course in the town of Innisfil, south of Barrie. Water-taking permits are issued by the Ministry of the Environment.
The company has been charged with two counts under section 107(3) of the Ontario Water Resources Act involving failure to keep accurate records of the amount of water taken and failure to submit a report to the ministry detailing the amount of water taken.
The charges follow an August 2002 investigation by the Ministry of the Environment.
The first court date is July 7, 2003 in the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie.
