TOWNSHIP’S LONG TERM WASTE PLAN TO UNDERGO ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

TORONTO – The Township of Stirling-Rawdon can proceed with an environmental assessment for a 25-year solution for its waste.

The environment minister has approved the township’s terms of reference, the initial stage in the environmental assessment process.

The environmental assessment will look at alternative methods for creating additional disposal capacity including reclamation of the existing Rawdon landfill site, expansion of the site, finding a new site within the township boundary, waste diversion and a combination of alternatives.

Interested individuals will have opportunities to comment on the township’s waste management plan throughout the environmental assessment process.
