Engineer Internship Program (EIP) |
Thank you for your interest in the Engineer Internship Program (EIP) with the Ministry of Environment (MOE).
Please note that the application period for 2009 has closed.
The program is designed to attract, recruit and retain a diverse pool of future engineers to the MOE. This is a four year program for recent graduates in chemical, civil, environmental or mechanical engineering disciplines. The program provides non-licensed individuals with the work experience required to obtain their P.Eng license.
The EIP offers practical, multidisciplinary learning experiences
through rotational assignments across the ministry.
Highlights include:
1. Gain relevant work experience to obtain your
P. Eng. license
The EIP is designed to provide you with the required work experience
to obtain your P. Eng. license within four years.
2. Active coaching from a designated mentor
EIP interns get one-on-one guidance from assigned mentors who are experts in their profession and the organization. The mentor will be available
to answer your questions, provide coaching, act as a sounding board
for your ideas, and support you in your first professional experience.
3. Create a professional network
The personal contacts you make as an EIP intern can put you on the
track to a fulfilling, successful career in the (MOE).
4. Make a difference to MOE and help protect the
environment
MOE relies on recent graduates, for new ideas, energy and knowledge of the latest
research, technology and best practices in the environmental industry.
As an intern, you will be encouraged to apply this knowledge to add
value to the ministry.
You are eligible to apply for the Engineer Internship Program (EIP) if you:
The majority of placements are expected to be in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA); however opportunities may also be available in regions outside of the GTA

Q1. Is there an age limit?
A1.There is no age limit to apply to the Engineer Internship Program. You are eligible to apply as long as you graduated (within the last two years) from a four-year degree in civil, chemical, environmental or mechanical engineering with a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
Q2. When do you begin accepting applications?
A2. The EIP competition opens Thursday, May 28, 2009.
Q3. What is the application deadline?
A3. Thursday, June 18, 2009
Q4. Where will EIP positions be located?
A4. The majority of placements are expected to be in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA); however opportunities may also be available in regions outside of the GTA.
Q5. Do I have to be a Canadian citizen to apply?
A5. No, however you must be legally entitled to work in Canada. For more information, visit the Citizenship and Immigration Canada website at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/.
Q6. Can I apply if I already have my P. Eng. license?
A6. The EIP is designed to provide recent graduates with work experience required to help them obtain their P. Eng. license. Therefore, applicants who already possess their P. Eng. license are not eligible.
Q7. Where are the assignments located within the Ministry?
A7. Interns are placed in job assignments to ensure exposure to a variety of MOE functions and priorities.
