The Corporate Management Division is responsible for business and fiscal planning, budgetary control, and for ensuring the Ministry's corporate information technology needs are met in a co-ordinated and cost effective manner. The division also ensures the efficient delivery of Ministry programs and activities through the timely provision of human resources services, accommodation and supplies, French language services, information research services and the Environmental Bill of Rights. It acts as the Ministry's liaison with central agencies, and ensures Ministry compliance with government legislation and policies, including the requirements of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the French Language Services Act. The division provides information technology services, information research services and facilities management (through a service agreement) to the Ministry of Energy. It also negotiates and oversees the provision of services under agreement with the Shared Services Bureau and Corporate Audit.

The Human Resources Branch provides the ministry's human resources management
program including: establishing ministry human resource policies and procedures,
co-ordination and delivery of the ministry HR Plan, implementing
new initiatives to meet workplace quality goals, organizational design and performance
management. The branch approves appropriate classification levels for all employees
and provides such services as staff recruitment, employee counselling, labour
relations, occupational health and safety services and technical training and
development at the ministry level.

The Information Management and Technology Branch is responsible for the design,
planning, development, implementation and maintenance of information management
and technology in support of ministry core businesses. Information management
services include: the provision of strategic advice on application design, planning
development of policies and standards, user education and maintenance of ministry
systems. The branch is also responsible for the ministry's information technology
infrastructure and the maintenance of the wide area network (WAN).

The Business and Fiscal Planning branch provides strategic advice for, coordinates and monitors the Ministry's business plans. The branch helps to develop and monitor Ministry and divisional performance measurement criteria. It coordinates, analyzes, and monitors the Ministry's estimates and budget and acts as a liaison with central agencies on fiscal planning issues. In addition, the Branch negotiates and oversees the provision of services under agreements with the Shared Services Bureau for services such as financial processing and reporting, procurement, payment, mail and control services.
Business and Fiscal Planning branch is also responsible for accommodation
and facilities management and running the Ministry printshop.
