Gail Beggs was appointed Deputy Minister of the Environment on June 1, 2007.
Gail joined the Ontario Ministry of the Environment from the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) where she served as Deputy Minister from February 2004 until June 2007. Gail also held the concurrent role of Deputy Minister Responsible for Aboriginal Affairs from June 2005 to June 2007. In the Ministry of Natural Resources Gail held the positions of ADM for Field Services Division, ADM, Natural Resource Management Division and ADM, Policy Division. During Gail’s career with the Ontario Public Service she has held the positions, ADM for SARS Coordination in Cabinet Office and President and CEO of the Ontario Clean Water Agency. Gail served as Chair of the Great Lakes Fishery Commission for 1995 and 1996, and as a Commissioner from 1991 to 1996.
Gail is currently on the Board of ServiceOntario and the Management Committee of the Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment. A resident of Toronto, Ontario, Gail holds Bachelors of Science and Master of Science degrees from the University of Toronto.
