The Drinking Water Management Division, led by the Chief Drinking Water Inspector, has lead responsibility for program and operational activities related to the protection and provision of safe drinking water in Ontario. The Division delivers its mandate through three branches: the Drinking Water Program Management Branch, the Education and Outreach Branch and the Safe Drinking Water Branch.

The Drinking Water Program Management Branch has the lead for program design and management. It conducts program analysis to support policy development and the division's compliance program.

Safe Drinking Water Branch

The Safe Drinking Water Branch has the overall responsibility for drinking water compliance and delivery of the drinking water approvals and licensing program. The branch is also responsible for responding to and resolving adverse water quality incidents through its 21 field offices.

The Source Protection Programs Branch is responsible for implementation of the Clean Water Act, in partnership with municipalities, conservation authorities and other stakeholders. The Branch provides strategic leadership, program coordination and support to drinking water source protection activities.
