Chief Drinking Water InspectorJohn Stager is Ontario's Chief Drinking Water Inspector. The Chief Drinking Water Inspector’s role is to ensure that drinking water systems meet Ontario’s stringent standards for protecting the quality of the province’s drinking water. The responsibilities of the Chief Drinking Water Inspector include monitoring the frequency and efficacy of inspections, advising on policies, regulations and protocols regarding inspections, developing training programs for provincial officers, and providing an annual report on the overall performance of drinking-water systems in Ontario to the Minister of the Environment. The Chief Drinking Water Inspector is also the Assistant Deputy Minister leading the Ministry’s Drinking Water Management Division. The Drinking Water Management Division has lead responsibility for program and operational activities related to the protection and provision of safe drinking water in Ontario. |
