Eastern Ontario Water Resources Management Study

The two counties originally received separate funding from the PWPF. The United Counties of Prescott & Russell received $299,138 from the MOE for its PWPF study, or 78 percent of the total cost of the study ($382,872). The United Counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry received $330,245 from the MOE for its PWPF study, or 82 percent of the total cost of the study ($405,109). Both studies commenced in November 1999, and quickly joined together to form the larger combined study; the combined EOWRMS was completed in March 2001. Major study activities included: creation of a digital spatial database (land use, groundwater characteristics); development of a regional water budget; characterization of aquifers (including assessment of aquifer vulnerability); characterization of surface water resources; assessment of servicing infrastructure (water supply, wastewater treatment, stormwater); and development of regional water resource management action plans.
