Larder Lake Groundwater Management Study

The Township of Larder Lake received $120,496 from the MOE for its PWPF study, or 90 percent of the total cost of the study ($133,884). The PWPF study commenced in March 2000, and was completed in August 2001. Major study activities included the following: characterization of the groundwater system and hydrogeology of the study area; construction of a numerical groundwater flow model; definition of the wellhead protection area; identification of potential sources of contamination within the wellhead protection area; preparation of an emergency plan; and development of groundwater management options. Nine monitoring wells were drilled to permit collection of basic information.
