United Counties of Leeds and Grenville Groundwater Management Study |

The United Counties of Leeds and Grenville received $195,932 from the MOE for its PWPF study, or roughly 79 percent of the total cost of the study ($246,921). The PWPF study commenced in November 1999, and was completed in June 2001. Major study activities included the following: identification of groundwater recharge and discharge areas; mapping of aquifers vulnerable to contamination; modeling groundwater flow; developing preliminary wellhead protection areas for two urban areas (the former Hamlet of Lansdowne and the Village of Westport); inventorying contaminant sources; inventorying groundwater usage; and reviewing institutional arrangements for groundwater management.
